This is a delightful book that children of all ages will love. Written in 48 two-line stanzas of alliteration and rhyme about animals and their names -- 124 in all, simply and colorfully illustrated -- it builds up to the climax of a new name for a butterfly.

About the Author

Jay Downs is a retired high school and college math teacher, and his wife Jeanie worked with pre-school children most of her life. He has written poetry for over 40 years, and when she came up with the idea, he was inspired to write this poem. Jeanie creatively sketched the animals, their daughter Jillian brought them to life by charmingly painting each one, and this book was born.
