About the Author
Dr. Joyce Morley-Ball was born the youngest of fourteen children to vegetable farmers. She is the mother of three daughters, Yolanda, Teknaya, and Natasha, and grandmother of Gabrielle. Dr. Joyce, as she is affectionately called, battled many seemingly insurmountable odds to reach her goals. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Elementary Education/Psychology, Masters of Science degree (MS) in Counseling, Specialist degrees (Ed.S.) in Counseling and Education Administration, and a doctorate (EdD) in Counseling, Family and Worklife (CFW) from the University of Rochester. Dr. Joyce engages in motivational speaking and training at the national, state and local levels, as a consultant and executive coach to major organizations and educational institutions and as a licensed psychotherapist in private practice. She has been recognized by Who’s Who In Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who Among Human Service Professionals, And the World’s Who’s Who Among Women. She contributed to featured articles at Essence.com, other newspapers and the article “Five Men and Five Women to Avoid”, in Ebony Magazine. She wrote a quarterly column for “Family Digest” Magazine, entitled, “Marriage Makeovers.” She currently writes a column in the magazine entitled, “Relationship Treatments.” Her book of poetry entitled “Weary But Not Worn: A Spiritual Reawakening” was published April 1999. Dr. Joyce hosted a live, weekly, radio call-in talk show titled the “Dr. Joyce” show and she co-hosted the “Love and Relationships” radio show on V-103 (103.3 FM), in Atlanta.
