About the Book
Yes, The Game Was Good To Me, until I discovered the Holy Spirit and Salvation, becoming a Born Again Christian. For many of my adult years, I lived a life of wrong doings, transgressions, and sin. My earliest recollections were as an earth bound child dragging a heavy gunnysack through fields of cotton and corn towering over my head. I was a sharecropper’s son, barefooted and destined to toil for the rest of my life in a no-win, hard rock situation. My family and I were indentured slaves to a harsh southern system! From these humble beginnings, I started a fantastic journey through self-discipline and soul survivorship, step-by-step, through the nightmarish world of "file de joie" and many devious adventures. I became very successful and lived in a post enclave on the famed Sutton Place, New York City. I flew high, rubbing shoulders with "fast players," movers, and city-slick shakers! I covered many major cities as my fortunes ebbed and flowed, but always came up smelling like a rose! How sweet it was! In The Game Was Good to Me I do not use the real names of my friends, associates, and acquaintances unless I have their full approval; otherwise, substitute names are used to protect their privacy. I sincerely feel that my greedy story will be a warning to young men who may attempt to walk the same dangerous paths that I once followed.
About the Author
His name is John Crawley. Some know him as Crawley. On the farm, they called him Jake. They called him "Mr. C" on Sutton Place, where he made millions! He is a promoter, businessman, and sportsman. He is not that four letter word that he detests so much ‘p -- p!’ He is a man of character who places integrity at the top of the list. John has a young modern mind floating in wisdom. He is a man who gets things done once he makes his mind up to do so. He was a lover sensitive to women with a model type image, as he called it, but not uncontrollable! He would like to have a Proverb 31:10 woman, mentioned in the Bible. He is not a trick or sucker and definitely not a fool! John is willing to share his heart, soul, mind and body as well as income with the woman of his choice. His choices of women were Black American, White American, and Scandinavian. His role model is Hugh Hefner, "The Play Boy King." John has all the qualities of a king! He recently retired from the taxi-limousine business to devote all of his time to writing and making plans to open his Jazz Club, The Chandelier Cocktail Lounge and Hasty Tasty Dining Room, in New York City, coming in 2001. (Just keeping it real). There is much, much more to know about John so read the book! It is good drama, exciting moments, with major love roles. John attended many of the seminal special sporting events that defined the age of the1960s through ‘80s, including the Kentucky Derbys; Mohammed Ali Fights, Sugar Ray Leonard; Roberto Duran in New Orleans when he said ‘no mas!’ and the Super Bowl Game 1982.
