Chapter 1: You Have Been Running No accident, I say. You have been running around in your mind, if not with your body. Most times, you are plain confused about life and where you might end up. Everything seems to be out of your reach, especially those things that are really important: Like the persons you want to love you, the places you want to go, the things you want to possess - the houses, cars, and clothes - and even what you would like to accomplish. 'Things' seem to be beyond your feeble control. You have many doubts about this thing called life. So you act secure, but inside where it really counts, you are as insecure as the next person; perhaps even more so. You are constantly moved, and seem obligated, to put on a false front in order to maintain some kind of a image that you have created for yourself. You are one of the world's best actors, and no one knows it better than I. You cannot be real! You are an example of falsehood. In short, you are incomplete, caged in indifferences, insecurities and retractions. Without Me, you are incomplete. That's why this book was written to put you on the road to completeness. I know you need help. The kind of help you would never on your own seek out. You are too divided in your mind to know that searching for the real thing requires commitment, without strings attached. A commitment you have never known. I have tugged and pulled at you in so many ways, trying to get your attention in subtle ways. When you were very young and small with thoughts of being discarded and forgotten that was my tug. Many times you were put in situations where you were both alone and lonely, that was my pull. You wanted a special friend who would be by your side: play with you, go places with you, and if necessary, help to fight some of those scary battles you had imagined. Every time you thought that best friend had been found, you soon discovered you were alone, again. The friend had moved or found someone else to be a best friend. You always thought: what's wrong with me? Why can't I find just one friend? You never knew that was a tug by Me; I wanted to be your best friend. You would not allow Me to be just the kind of friend you needed. Listen, don't stop reading this book. You must press on. I have much to tell you. Do you remember the time when you, as a teenager, were drawn into sexual immoralities, even sexual uncleanliness, by thoughts and sometimes actions? I won't go into the details of the pain and sufferings you caused - especially to yourself. Sin does that; it kills life, steals joy, and destroys happiness.
