About the Book

Sometimes it takes failure or discouragement or an unexpected turn of events for us to realize that God not only knows us better than we know ourselves but He has a plan for us that we cannot comprehend in our limited humanness. He has the power to make us powerful, but first He has to get our attention.

I had tunnel vision and a limited imagination about my future. Although I thought I was depending on God to lead me, the truth was that I wanted control and when things didn't go my way and everything I planned fell apart, I felt betrayed and abandoned. Where was the God I trusted? He was waiting for me to hit rock bottom before I could realize He had different plans that were both frightening and exciting and would take me out of my comfort zone and into unknown territory. I had no choice but to totally surrender to His leading one step at a time in order to emotionally survive. Often, I wondered if I would make it.

Barren Mother takes me from a teenager who felt directed by God to the mother of many children, to the young wife who made every effort to become pregnant and finally succumbed to the reality that she would never bear a child to the woman who totally surrendered herself to God's will and the exciting life that followed. Had God shown a light far into my future, I would have crumbled under the frightening reality of the burdens I would have to bear. Fortunately, He promised me a "light unto my path," and, one step at a time, we walked a challenging path together.
