Though there are some among you that may think there is a secret to making the dream come true...there is no secret. The purpose of this book is to help readers help themselves. There’s a lot of truth in that old saying, "nothing ventured, nothing gained". Only you alone can determine if owning your own business would be the right career path to follow. Only you hold the key to unlocking the entrepreneurial skills within you. For those who are willing to take an objective look at the possibilities of self-employment, finding the answers is as easy as "A-B-C". The information contained herein is offered as a general guide based on my personal experiences as an entrepreneur and business owner of two liquor store/junior markets, a clothing partnership; and a promotional writing service for corporate, business and individual clients. The text boxes appearing in various chapters denote specific information relating to my experience with procedures I’ve followed or things I’ve encountered in my own business operations. My administrative skills and supervisory/management experience have served me well to ensure my success as a business owner. I have called upon the sum of all my skills and knowledge as a realtor, office manager and human resources professional and have woven them into the foundation upon which this book is written. My background as a writer has provided the threads of continuity necessary to complete the final summation of information contained upon these pages. How easy it would have been for my husband and me years ago, if there were then a business guidebook to follow. However, that part of our "dream" was never realized. But, the other part of the dream my husband and I shared, of owning our own business, we made that dream a reality for ourselves. As the author of The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Business Basics 101, it is my hope that my book will help you turn your own dream into reality for you.

In addition, Ms. Colton was licensed as a California realtor for 12 years.
