It was a late Friday afternoon. Barely able to stand, Lisa struggled to make it out of the office. As she walked towards her car, she noticed a white BMW parked alongside of her car. No one in the office owned such an expensive vehicle. "The nerve of some people; the fact that this is a restricted parking area doesn’t seem to matter," she muttered to herself. Lisa opened the passenger-side door and placed her briefcase on the floor. Walking to the back of her car, she couldn’t help notice the New York plates. The car was magnificent, she thought. Lisa had to step back and take it all in. A shadow approached over her shoulder. She quickly turned around and confronted a tall, lightskinned brother with curly hair and green eyes. A pair of Calvin Klein’s and a white Calvin T-shirt clung to his well-toned body. She thought it would be a sin to look that good and not have to work for it. "You know, if you wanna ride, I’ll take you for a spin," he said with a New York accent. "I’m sure you would," Lisa replied. "By the way, this is a restricted parking area. I know where you’re from you tend to overlook things like that. Around here we take this a bit more seriously. You’re lucky I didn’t get on my car phone and have your car towed immediately." "Look I was just trying --" "Save your excuses. You probably think just because that car is so expensive you can park it anywhere. I bet you’re one of those people that take up two spaces at a mall." "You sure have a lot to say, Ms. Munroe." She raised her left eyebrow, "How do you know my name?" "If you had given me a chance to properly introduce myself, all of this could have been avoided." Lisa stepped back ever so slightly, her stance begging an explanation. "I’m Mike Wilson the new Assistant District Attorney. I’ll be starting on Monday." "I didn’t hear anything about any new ADAs," she said, as he was getting into his car. As he handed her a business card, she caught a flash from his gold Rolex. He started his car and leaned out the window. "You know, Ms. Munroe, things would have been a lot easier if you’d just accepted the ride." Then he sped off. Is this what she had to look forward to on Monday morning? He was so full of himself. Then again, he didn’t know who he was dealing with.

About the Book

During this downward spiral, Lisa begins to look within herself to confront some truths that could forever change her, even shatter the lives around her--Sometimes, we have to go to the brink of self destruction to finally come to rest at a place of happiness. But, for Lisa, is it ten minutes past too late?
