My cell phone was ringing with urgency as I entered my car and I saw that I had missed four calls from Eric, no doubt. My mind was finally made up and I didn’t want any distractions, accomplices, or witnesses. I wasn’t going to answer it, but I knew Eric wouldn’t give up. When I answered the phone Eric was in a rage. He explained that he was called into court to testify in a probable cause hearing for Tim. He said the judge had dropped all charges due to insufficient nexus. This only added fuel to my fire but I managed to maintain my composure. I asked, "So he was released?" Eric shouted out, "Not only is he released, but his attorney already bonded him out, they let him miss his court, and his attorney is threatening to sue us for defamation of character." I said, "Just take it easy. I have something that I have to take care of and I will call you later." With that the conversation ended and I turned off my phone and my pager. All I had to do now was locate Tim in the right place at the right time. During the ride back, I tried to compose a perfect plan for a perfect crime. As I entered the city limits, I still had not devised a definite plan. A few minutes later, I was inside the city and heading towards Tim’s house. When I arrived, his car was not there. I then went to his shop and he wasn’t there either. I was at a total loss and I couldn’t afford to let my rage subside. I knew exactly what had to be done and it had to be done soon. I then traveled back to Tim’s house and set up surveillance from a block away. Six long hours had passed and still no signs of Tim. I watched the flaming sun set in a blood painted sky, as my feelings only grew more intense with time. Night was now upon me, which was more conducive for the kill. I was ready like never before and I decided to call my family one last time in case something went wrong.

About the Book
The setting of the story takes place in the mysterious and magical city of New Orleans. An overwhelmed homicide detective hooks up with a rookie detective assigned to investigate minor thefts. The first case assigned to the rookie detective is a theft of two flowerpots from a cemetery. The rookie, apprehensive of his investigative knowledge, solicits help from the seasoned homicide detective. The case quickly evolves from a pair of plundered flowerpots to a million dollar operation involving several owners of the City’s most exquisite and prominent antique shops. Together, the two become hopelessly lost in some of the city’s most majestic burial grounds; known as the world famous "Cities of the Dead." During the investigation, the two detectives begin to notice several strange and unexplainable coincidences that seem to guide their every move. After some time, they manage to put aside their macho police attitudes; and learn to accept the fact that they were catapulted into the realm of the spiritual world--and the supernatural. The wacky and zany antics by the rookie and the straightforward nature of the homicide detective make for an unusual, but most effective, crime fighting partnership. And . . . just when the two detectives thought they had pushed the investigation to the limit, the case explodes, and leads them directly into a morbid, voodoo, serial murder plot of millennial proportions. Finally, the investigation reveals a suspect who is linked in the disappearance of the homicide detective’s missing sister from when he was a child. In the end, the two detectives accept and understand the reasons for the spiritual interventions. As a result, hundreds of Lost Souls in the "Cities of the Dead" were freed from their torment, and the demons were finally revealed in a tremendous battle between the powers of good and evil. But, at what cost . . . Although the story is fictional, it is inspired from a true-life investigation involving the two detectives who authored this story. It is a spin off of certain events concerning the theft of stolen cemetery artifacts. We leave it totally up to the reader to decipher the fictional occurrences, and any similarities to persons or parties involved with the actual investigation are totally coincidental and unintentional.

Detective Frederick (Eric) C. Morton
Lawrence (Larry) E. Green was born in Natchez, Mississippi, and was raised as a child in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is married and is the father of two children. After graduating high school, he worked as a mechanic for ten years and decided to fulfill his life long dream of being a New Orleans Police Officer. Now he has over ten years of Law Enforcement experience, where the latter part he has held the position of a Homicide Investigator for the New Orleans Police Department.
Both the authors began working together when they headed up an international investigation involving the theft of cemetery artifacts. This investigation led them into a world of supernatural occurrences that changed their life forever. Although this novel is completely fictional, it was inspired by this true to life investigation. We look forward to explaining the entire true story behind the fictional novel in the non-fictional manuscript Divine Intervention to follow in the near future.
