About the Book
The stories, illustrations, and poetry in this book are designed for young children from ages three through twelve. The feeling is that this age group can relate to the characters in the book. Most every child knows what a dolphin is. They know that grasshoppers, in the story of "Hippy," do not walk upright, or wear clothes as we do. The puppy in "Scared Little Socks" could belong to any child and Susie could be a little girl in any town. "The Season Train" is a ride in rhyme through the seasons of Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. "While Rhyming Time" uses everyday things that are familiar (chair-hair).
About the Author
The author says, "I grew up reading Golden Book stories and feel they were a good influence in my life. The characters became friends and took me through adventures I might never have had. I now want to pass on new friends and adventures to future generations with my stories, in hopes they too will be influenced with good things." "God has given me this talent. My grandmother taught me to look for beauty in everything and now my husband, Ernest, encourages me with never-ending love." Ms. Campbell began her published work with poetry. She became a Distinguished Member of the International Library of Poets Society and she is in their Poetry Hall of Fame Museum. Marlene J. Campbell has received twelve Editor’s Choice and Award of Recognition Certificates from publications affiliated with National and International Poets, Famous Poets, Poetry Guild, and Sparrowgrass Societies. As of the end of the year 2000, Ms. Campbell had written over four hundred poems. She has been published in numerous anthologies and her local newspaper has read many of her poems on a local radio station. She sees this, her first children’s book, as her next step as a writer.
