There was Jesus treading water (or was it treading Earth?) right next to him, His Eyes bright and smiling. Ground dripped from His Hair, Beard, the tip of His Nose and the lobes of His Ears. Peter laughed out loud. Jesus started a splashing contest and soon topsoil splattered all over the place, both of them trying to out drench the other. Dirt splashed off their cheeks and ran down the back of their necks; Jesus scooped up a handful of liquid sod and doused him with it. “You see, Peter. I baptize with Living Water.” They drank the dirt and swam in the rocks and floated on the land. The mountains leapt like rams and the hills like yearling sheep. Tremble O Earth, before the Lord, who turns the rock into a pool and flint into a spring of water. As they dried them-selves off from their time spent in the swimming hole, Jesus looked up and said, “You see Peter, you have to know how to swim even when you’re on dry land. You are the rock, and upon this rock I shall build my church, but the rock can be fluid too ~ when it needs to be. “Get out of the boat, Peter. Get out of the boat. Unless you don’t have enough faith to walk on water…get out of the boat.”

About the Book
Thirty-five years in the making, Blood from Angels’ Wings is a collection of poetry that spans across the entire author’s life, starting as a 13 year-old boy writing The Gift to a young college student writing The Man on the Tree to a middle-aged man writing The Voyage. The poet, Brother Tom, is a third order discalced Carmelite monk so most of these works are, of course, very spiritual in nature. People wanting a spiritual journey will discover one in the poems and pictures found within these pages. But, truly, this book was written for the non-believer. From the anger found in The Master Key to the incessant prodding of The Fifth Station to the call to arms of Battle Rap, this book was written with the aspiration of guiding people who hate religion back to God. If the church has ever hurt you, then, on behalf of the church, I am sorry. Chapels are filled with many people, some of them good, some of them not so good, and some of them constipated. But if you stay away because of some bad people, then the bad guys will win. Don’t let that happen. Please, return to Jesus. He will absolutely accept you with Open Arms.
About the Author
Brother Tom Is Thomas Paonessa. He is a third order discalced Carmelite Monk, hence the moniker. He has worked as an AutoCAD designer, both in the automotive and civil engineering fields. He has also worked as a professor at Focus: HOPE, teaching AutoCAD. In addition to “Blood from Angels’ Wings,” he has also written a novel, two children’s books, a book of essays, two textbooks, a play, a movie, three screenplays and a documentary. He is also an active member of the Catholic Community of St. Paul, where he works as a Minister to the Sick, a Prison Minister and a volunteer camera operator. An adrenaline junkie, he is a martial artist, a white-water rafter, a mountain-climber, a skydiver and a spelunker.
