About the Book

This book is a compilation of papers I have written regarding the study of the Universe.  The main objective of this book is to introduce the concept of the Gravitational Structural Length.  This represents the bending of space caused by a given mass.  This concept is important because it builds on the theories of past astronomers and physicists such as Galileo and Sir Isaac Newton.  It can be used as a shortcut and cuts down on the amount of time needed to solve problems.  It is also very accurate, sometimes more accurate than the constants used by past scholars.  Other scholars of Astronomy can use this material as a research tool.

About the Author

Mr. Donald Pershing became interested in Astronomy and Physics as a young child while watching his father teach quantum physics and astronomy at the University of Indiana.  His father would take him and his younger brother to look at the moon and the stars through the telescope at the University.  Seeing the moon left Mr. Pershing wondering about the other planets in the Universe.  This curiosity resulted in the building of a telescope by Mr. Pershing’s brother while attending college.

While Mr. Pershing’s father was earning his doctorate’s degree at the University of Chicago, he would occasionally bring young Mr. Pershing to the school.  On one such instance, Mr. Pershing attended a summer picnic with his father, along with many notable scientists.  Mr. Pershing fondly remembers sitting on Dr. Albert Einstein’s lap and being fed watermelon.  This had a significant influence on the course of Mr. Pershing’s career and fueled his passion for the study of the Universe.
