Our Creation Book of Poetry

When man was created by God,
Alone he knew he would be,
That’s why he made you from the sod,
And then he created me

From your ribs, he made me
To be loved and protected by you;
In the head, he gave you eyes to see,
He gave us the knowledge to see each other through.

Strong he created the human being
Meek, kind, humble and intelligent he created me.
Through the rough spots of life things seen
He knew society would challenge you and me.

So keep your body and mind
As well, and strong as can be.
When the tides of life are combined,
Twain would be able to master the sea.

THE LONELY ROOM

The old woman sat in her chair in the lonely room,
Bouncing back and forth in her rocking chair
What a world to be in she pondered,
All these people around and nobody care.

She thought of her medical and utility bills,
And the food needed, she could buy
In a moment of heartache and sadness,
The little old woman began to cry.

I worked hard when I was young,
Now my strength is gone, I cannot depend,
On my sons, daughters or folks of kin
To live like this it is just a sin.

That night when she kneeled to pray,
The rush of pain through her bones,
A soft calm voice whisper of love and relief
Said "depend on me" you are not alone.

She reached to touch an unseen hand,
Life’s sweetest songs she began to sing,
Make me be brave and understanding,
Lonely folks, remember each kindly thing.

Now I know how to ask for the inexpensive,
Priceless cared and bitter crosses,
To an unseen guest who sat at the table
Lift my spirit and replace the losses.

I’ll make my room a joyous place,
To my God I shall share my room
Through the changing years I’ve shed many tears
But, will not cry tomorrow.
