Sophonia had grown weak, and the sleep that had become intermittent now was near a permanence Each time she opened her eyes, he could see love moving further to the source. As sap returns to the tree, so would the strength of her love continue to return to Raoul.
Her tiny physical body, cold and frail from the pull of the forces, still held
warmth of spirit, of heart ,of soul. She drew warmth from his love, a warmth that always melted that chilly ice of winter. Raoul, with tears of acceptance, embraced her spring, her summer, her autumn, and winter as he felt the winds of change whirling through time. He felt the sweetness of her heat and the coolness of her temperament. Sophonia called his name and the echo spread across the universe as she breathed her last breath.
Those arms that had moved him into ecstasy lay limp over her shrunken breast. Those lips that recited poetry closed over a tongue unable to utter sound. Those fingers gifted with the flow of rhyme and reason were now bent and stiff with experiences of earthly time. He held her close.
“Most precious friend” he cried “ now I shall find shelter under the roof of your soul.” And as his tears dropped over her face, he saw the smile that teased and pleased him. He saw that Egyptian like face and the hazel eyes that taunted him to sweet surrender. He saw the beginning and the end of Sophonia, an ending that would place her upon the right side of omnipotence.
He lay her down to that eternal serenade, as chimes and bells so beautifully sent music to his heart as the scent of the jasmine incense scented his nostrils. In the distance he heard a familiar tune, that serenade that filled the room when he and Sophonia experienced that first kiss, that once in a lifetime kiss. Raoul’s funny valentine was his favorite work of art
There is no death beloved
Love has no end-
It’s the beginning when we discover
The places we have been.
In poetry- we epitomize
All that is-all that shall be.
The many times we’ve loved
Giving back-the happiness
From you to me.

About the Book
Realizing that man and woman united in love can make earth a haven of peace and happiness two lovers Sophonia and Raoul move through a cosmic journey
with a beginning that has no end.
Through lineated verse set against prose the writer mixes Judeo-Christian scriptures with those of Muslim, Buddhist and all other faiths revealing that there is one verse that exist in each of the Holy Scriptures, ‘Do unto others and you would have them do unto you”.
The writer moves the lovers in a fantastical nature weaving their spiritual essences with their connection with the universal intelligence that underlies creation. With each new exploration they find that love is the answer and only through this realization and practice will minds become elevated and universal peace prevail.
