About the Book

King mixes adventure and warm human interest in equal parts; there is much here about wild life and hunting and everlasting conflict between men and animals, as seen through the eyes of both.

King presents enthralling scenes that move with a lighting pace and alternate between the life of King and his "family" and their struggle for survival, and the life of their human hunters. Several themes are interwoven in this book: the hunger for life that burns equally in animal and human instincts, with the victory of sanity and peace over violence and killing. This book will appeal to the young in heart of all ages, its message is universal-love of creatures and confidence in the best instincts of everything that lives.

About the Author

I guess you can call this my "Pedigree" . . .

I acquired my wide and intimate knowledge of ranch life and ranch animals and many wild animals of the prairie, from my experience as the wife of a Wyoming rancher.

I had an extensive career as a fashion decorator and merchandise promoter and art teacher and critic.

I helped in making the first Electric Blanket and was one of the first to taste oleomargarine, also worked on the space unit and spent many hours testing with the General Electric engineers.

I am equally at home in a city like Boston, Massachusetts as I am in a western city, like Cheyenne, Wyoming, and all of the cities on the Atlantic side.

I owned a gift shop, managed a store and hotel, and judged a contest for the 4H clubs at fairs.

I found time to serve as a county chairperson for Wyoming's 75th State Anniversary.

I was born in Boston, Mass., November 20, 1919.

I am known as Carolyn Baker, Mildred Parker, and Millie B. Good
