About the Book

Chief White Eyes is a very strong and powerful leader of his tribe, The Turtle Clan of the mighty Delaware. He stands six-feet-six.

Little Elk is the Chief’s nine-year-old son whose burning desire is to become a great Medicine man, which conflicts with his father’s main concern; Little Elk shall one day become a great warrior Chief.

Little Elk is forced to face the stinging scorn of his father’s angry accusations of cowardice, disgrace and the fear his father does not love him, and perhaps will even banish him from their tribe.

Little Elk, desperately seeking his father’s love and approval, will attempt to show his courage, by climbing Eagle Mountain to pluck two eagle feathers. He meets with almost fatal results.
