About the Book

What's scarier than a humongous humpback nuzzling your hull? A hurricane maybe? Or having your ketch hijacked in Haiti? Live-aboard sailors, whose supposedly year-long cruise winds down a decade later, can tell you between the Great Lakes and South America it's one adventure after another . . . not all heart-stoppers, though. There are the hilarious cheats on one island, French nudes chasing President Carter on another, manatees too ugly to ever be mistaken for mermaids, and an honest-to-goodness periscope popping up to port. Any wonder that the crew can't stick to that twelve-month schedule?

About the Author

Margie Champion Taylor grew up in a Depression-era town so small that even the school lacked a library. As a result, she settled for books of adventure borrowed from neighbor boys, thus developing a hunger for excitement. Taylor’s young adult years were spent rearing a family, writing newspaper features and columns, and incessantly packing for moves to keep up with her husband’s assignments in the Marine Corps. His retirement prompted still another transfer – from roomy quarters to life aboard a cramped ketch. The next decade, spent mostly in the Caribbean, brought hurricanes, humpback whales, high jackings, and Hollywood notables . . in short, a host of heady happenings. As she puts it, she had an "h" of a good time.
