About the Book

The work is a double series on the Church seasons of Advent and Lent. No seasons of the Church year awaken the human heart, as do those of Advent and Lent. Advent speaks to the soul's expectation of our Savior's coming. There are four Sundays in Advent, and Advent concludes with Christmas Sunday. In moving through the season in the series, we will tune our hearts to the spiritual aura of Advent.

Lent unfolds the drama of our Savior's mission and self-sacrificing love. There are four Sundays in Lent, followed by Passion Sunday, Palm Sunday, and Easter Sunday. Each of the series is introduced in the first of that series, and Easter Sunday is the climax of each series. In Advent, the appeal is to the soul's awakening to spiritual realities. In Lent, in the imagination of our minds, we will walk with our Savior through his last weeks on earth – and through His Passion – seeking a deeper spiritual life.
