Alexander propped himself up on his elbows in bed. His muscles were stiff from lack of use. His last conscious thoughts were of being deathly ill with a fever. He saw Chenko before him and wondered if he was engaged in a feverish nightmare. Things had gone terribly wrong for him after her last departure. "Rest some more Alexander, time is definitely on your side." She sat next to him on the bed. She wore an unfamiliar one piece black full-body leotard. There weren’t any buttons or zippers. The elastic material became footwear as it passed over ankles, and gloves for her hands beyond her wrists. He saw nothing familiar, "Is this another nightmare?" "No." "Where am I?" "I’ll tell you in due time. I must explain what has happened to you. All that was real and of substance to you is no more. Your empire and those you trusted have been dead for thousands of years. The only thing you have now is what I promised to you. Do you remember what I promised?" He looked into her cold blue eyes, "Yes." "Alexander, I’ve brought you to my time. The events that you saw on the monitor in the Arcade have come and gone. Its up to you to save mankind, if you fail the earth will be destroyed. "When you agreed to fight this war, the wine we toasted was already tainted with a plague known as malaria and a drug that would make you sleep as if you were dead. I had taken the antidotes beforehand. I plucked you away with a godly appearance from the Arcade, but what you’ve lost can’t compare to the gains ahead." She pointed at another black leotard body suit on a chair, "Freshen up, I’ll be back to introduce you to my friends and what they have to offer. We’ve a lot of work to do to get you back on top." She went to a closed doorway and pressed a button on the wall. The door slid open. She walked through and it closed behind her.
"We want to come home, to be a part of the Mother again." In Chenko’s mind those words were telepathically presented to her. The creature looked up at Chenko. She looked down at Artemis. Her hand caressed the gray oversized head. She knelt to its eye level and looked into the huge unblinking almond shaped black eyes. "Its hard to believe that your kind was once as human as myself. The moon’s unprotected surface and the sun’s gamma rays have changed your once human countenance into this. Show your face on earth now and you’d be regarded as an alien race to your terrestrial kindred. "Your efforts to incorporate new genetic material into your hybrid race have not been in vain. The silver of homo-sapiens in you is still enough for your kind to walk the earth again." Artemis spoke in her telepathic way, "We’re from the Mother. We belong on the earth more so than any human there today. We are the descendants of sunken Atlantis."
Chenko looked through the telescope focused on the earth. "Chenko, your calculations are coming true. The apocalyptic events that destroyed our forefathers on Atlantis have started again. This time we’ll save the Mother from these beings with our weapons of war and come home. We’ve tried with our science to prolong our existence on the moon, but we will perish here." Chenko changed to a stronger eyepiece and re-adjusted the telescope, "Yes, it has started Artemis." Through the telescope she saw black smudges from the erupting volcanoes along the Pacific Ring of Fire filling the atmosphere with ash. "Our blue and white planet is being tortured for the last time." Chenko walked across the room towards the exit. "Alexander is awake and no worst for his little escapade. Summon Baku and meet me in the conference room in fifteen minutes. Its time Alexander the Great meet his twenty first century allies."

Chenko’s a renegade Russian scientist who’s stolen her maiden project. Russia’s weapon of the ages, a time travel machine, codename: Arcade. She’s twenty-one years old and clinically insane. Interstellar war has arrived on earth with the annexation of the Persian Gulf oil fields early in the twenty first century. Chenko counters by resurrecting Alexander the Great. She sets goals for him to reconquer and unify modern day earth against this peril. She arms him with nuclear weapons and the Ares plasma beam cannon array from lost Atlantis. Alexander wages war in the Persian Gulf with the unified European army outfitted with this futuristic weapon of war. This is the prophesied end times and Alexander the Great is winning the battle to dethrone God. Russian military intelligence (GRU) wants their investment back, so they hunt Chenko for retribution. Sebastian is a freelance American secret agent who infiltrates Chenko’s alliance with the goal of stealing her technology for the CIA. The greed of mankind versus Chenko’s passion to progress earth technology beyond this ominous threat is underway. Her high stakes war could lead to a technological leap for mankind in the new millennium, or the destruction of the universe into an enormous black hole at the center of the universe, the Almighty’s final solution. What if organized religion’s only purpose is to draw man into a final conflict with God, its veil the ultimate illusion, a grand design for a vehicle to deliver mankind into the slaughterhouse that will be Armageddon?

David Paul Mitchell was born June 9, 1956. Graduated from Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art with a certificate in Illustration and has studied in the Novel Writing workshop with Writer’s Digest for Sci-fi.
