------Ilse knew she was in trouble! She was sitting on a hard chair, hands tied tightly behind her back. She recognized the heavy accent of the nurse from the night before. The men’s voices sounded familiar, but she couldn’t be sure. Lifting her head, she tried to see, but the black headband blocked her vision. The voices came closer. "She doesn’t look so beautiful now," Yves remarked. "Not with her nose smeared all over her face," the nurse replied with a sneer. Ilse turned her head to hear. "Aw, Ms. Buding, you are awake?" "Where, where am I?" "Not important for the moment, now is it?" Antonio Tsaris picked up the electric cattle prod he’d brought in from the dairy. He------ - - - - - - - - - - ------in on her neck. Ilse’s head fell as she faded into unconscious relief. Greta grabbed the prod from Antonio. "Let me see that? I want to say hello too!" "Careful, if we kill her, we have nothing to bargain." "Just one time. Take the blindfold off, I want to see the fear in her -----’ eyes!" Yves started to protest. "She could identify us?" "Dead spies don’t talk!" Antonio slipped the blindfold away, grabbed a handful of hair and jerked back her head. Both eyes were discolored by the blow from Greta’s boot! The cartilage in her nose was shattered, and her upper lip was split from end to end! The bleeding had stopped, and was now dried to her face, neck and gown. "A real beauty, huh? Wanna’ kiss her, Inspector?" "I’ll pass. Look, why don’t you leave her alone? Make the phone call, get what you want from them, then get out of the country?" He was getting in deeper by the minute. "It’s not that easy. You’re the one who screwed up from the beginning. If you’d have picked her up as instructed, Sergio would be dead, she could have had an accident in prison, al-Din would be alive and our business would be safe. Now look at the mess we’re in?" About the Author
Dr. Gene Kutsch is now a retired dentist, who graduated from the University of Portland in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and from the Oregon Health Science University in 1962 with a D.M.D. He studied law in 1973. After spending a year working in a leper colony in Taiwan and paying numerous visits to the medical missions in West Africa, he started his own dental practice in Oregon. He has treated thousands of economically disadvantaged patients in his private practice, and has served as an advisor for many years to elected officials on the State Health Programs. Dr Kutsch has lectured for the past 25 years, both in the USA and Internationally, at corporate conventions on Personal Motivation. He has traveled extensively, studying the major religions of the world, yet, staying alert to the corruption, sniffing out international suspense, and keeping an eye on those lurking in the shadows of intrigue and conspiracy. He continues to write, enjoy his growing family, the beauty of the Pacific N.W., and the ever-changing culture of Asia. Gene now travels between his home in Oregon and Beijing, China, where he is the dental consultant to International Medical Center.
