This is a subject that we want to focus on carefully because, quite frankly, this is where we feel most women fail when it comes to relationships. So-called ‘hard luck’ women are almost a proverb in this world and largely the result of women who are not able (or willing) to respect themselves enough to demand that they be treated better by the men they choose to meet and enter a relationship with.

Next to "Everything to gain and nothing to lose", (See Chapter #2) this may be the most important concept in the entire book.

As a matter of fact, it may even be more important. Even if you get up the nerve to speak to the man of your dreams, (or even just let him speak to you) without this crucial element, the relationship is doomed to failure because deep down inside, you don’t feel like you’re worthy of the relationship at all.

How many times have you heard a woman lament about being ‘hard done by’ her man? It is the very stuff old-country-love songs are made of! Alcoholics, drug abuser’s, compulsive gamblers, men with tempers, men who steal, men who cheat, men who assault their women – they are all out there and some girls seem attracted to them like moths to light. The truth is; most of these women allow themselves to be victimized over and over again by habitually making the wrong choices when it comes to the type of men they choose to associate with.

Please do not misunderstand, anybody can fall prey to the moral ambiguity and cruelty of an abusive male. There is no fault in this and such behavior is inexcusable and dead wrong on the part of the offending male! Rather the point is, there are a significant number of women who seem to repeat this cycle time and time again, with more-or-less the same kind of guy.

Boil away all the other contributing factors – social, economic and cultural – and what you are left with is a basic issue of ‘self-respect’. In this world ladies, rightly or wrongly – and like it or not – you are basically treated the way you allow yourself to be treated.
