"You’re right," Eddie answered, standing up. "I think we should go look in the church, and see if there is really any gold and silver in there."
"Sí," Jose answered, looked around, and motioned to the rest of his men to get up from the table. Jose led the way to the church and walked up the steps to the open door.
The group crowded inside to the cool, poorly lit church, and waited until their eyes adjusted to the darkened interior. Then they began walking slowly down the aisle.
Halfway to the altar, Eddie and Jose spied the tables of gold and silver items and made a rush to get there. The rest of the men almost knocked Eddie and Jose over in the excitement of getting to the tables first.
While all the men were stuffing their pockets with gold coins and other trinkets, Eddie picked up a beautiful gold necklace. The necklace supported a large diamond pendent surrounded by a cluster of emeralds.
"I will save this for Sheree," Eddie murmured, and stuffed it in his pocket.
Miguel, Jose’s brother and older by several years, finished stuffing his pockets with gold coins, strapped on an ornamental sword, and picked up a golden goblet.
"I am going to make myself younger," Miguel announced, and walked over to where drops of blood oozed from a cross, to fall into a container on the floor.
One at a time, men followed Miguel until the whole group watched as he held the goblet under the dripping blood. When the goblet filled halfway, Miguel held it high for all to see.
"I shall now become younger," Miguel announced and put the goblet to his lips.
Miguel’s eyes widened when the thick mass of blood left the goblet. It did not flow slowly, as one would think, but instead, jumped into his mouth as one big glob and took on a life of its own.
As soon as it entered the mouth, the jaws of Miguel clamped shut, and he could not open them while the glob tried to find his throat. Miniature electrical shocks subjected his face to many contortions, creating tingling and numbness.
Desperately, he dropped the goblet and grasped the jaws with his fingers, in a vain effort to open his mouth. Others of the gang tried to help him, to no avail, so they stepped back and watched in awe.
The glob moved violently around inside Miguel’s mouth. Initially, as it pushed out one cheek and then the other, the glob of blood jerked his head sideways, back and forth.
Then Miguel’s head moved violently up and down as the glob rolled up against the roof of his mouth and down against his tongue. Unable to control the turbulent movement of his head, Miguel’s eyes filled with tears.
Finally, the glob of blood braced itself against Miguel’s clenched teeth and jumped to the back of his mouth. There it found the opening to his throat, turned from a glob into a slender stream, and began its way to the stomach.
The presence of the shocks, tingling and numbness told Miguel the path the blood was taking, and he grasped his neck in an effort to stop the stream from moving downward. The blood ignored his efforts, as it kept moving down the inside of his throat and chest.
As the blood approached Miguel’s stomach, his whole upper body shook from the effects of the electrical shocks.

About the Book
During Earth’s Mesozoic era, a meteorite shower destroyed a colony of people from another planet. The surviving sleeping bodies of a man and wife were placed in separate life sustaining pods for future race perpetuation.
Awakened by Homo Sapiens, the husband and wife found they were separated and began searching for each other. They transferred their spirits to bodies of available humans when necessary.
Finding each other, the aliens used a humanoid surrogate mother to bear their son. Later, the parents gave their grown son the task of locating the spaceship used to reach Earth.
Finding a magazine describing the location of a dinosaur by a metal bubble, the son visited the site and bought the property.
Follow the son as he interacts with the National Science Administration during recovery of the spaceship and its restricted publicity. Learn what the son does about the goal of his parent’s million years old mission.
About the Author
Correll Pryce is a retired computer programmer and system analyst.
He began working with business accounting equipment during the early days of mechanical machines.
With the advent of commercial accounting beginning the use of computers, he worked with them to expand his knowledge and abilities. He retired after designing and programming many computer applications.
He lives in Hollywood, Florida, and has written four books: F.E., Techs, and Jackie, Ghost Church, Sirena, and Alien Son.
