About the Book
In order for readers to enjoy learning, it doesn’t hurt to add a spoonful of entertainment to their lessons. In the case of this book, the reader will enter the private lives of six teenagers as they take on the game of tennis and first love. The reader will not only learn how to play tennis, beginning with how to grip the racquet, but through the six players, they will learn how it feels to move into the intense atmosphere of competition and tournament play and find out what it takes to be a champion. The three boys and three girls come from different backgrounds, and as they share friendship and understanding on and off the court, they tug and push each other to meet a deadline of making the Varsity Tennis team as Freshmen. The San Diego setting brings them together as first crushes with shaky knees and secret desires blossom, and tennis games flourish through intense ambition under the Southern California sunshine. The sequel has been planned, taking the six friends into the exciting game of doubles. We’re talking tennis AND love.
