The Satanic First
Strike
War in Heaven
In order to determine what events led up to the satanic
first strike, we first need to compare scripture.
Isaiah 14:12-14
How art thou fallen
from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the
ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in
thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars
of God: I will sit also upon the mount
of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above
the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Revelation 12:7
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels
fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels--
Lucifer, ‘the anointed cherub that covereth’, by reason of
pride, boasting, and covetousness, has purposed in his heart to leave his
initial appointment and lay siege to heaven. His intention is to: ascend into
heaven; exalt his thrown above the angels of heaven, to sit upon the mount of
the congregation in the sides of the north, to rise above the clouds (of
earth), and to--“be like the most High
(God).
Isaiah 14:12-14
According to scripture, we can assume that he accomplished
his plan at least in part. Apparently he made it to heaven where he waged war
and was met by Michael and the angelic host of God. We see here spiritual
warfare in heaven between the children of light and the children of darkness.
We can also assume that this was no small undertaking. Lucifer obviously has an
army of angels large enough to warrant a full-scale war. Scripture does not say
that there was a skirmish or a fight in heaven, but a war where Jehovah’s
angelic host was forced to defend heaven. We shall examine the outcome in the
following chapter, but for now suffice it to say that Lucifer has now become
‘Satan’ or the ‘Adversary’.
Webster’s Dictionary defines adversary \ ad-ve(r)-ser-é \
1. One that contends with, opposes,
or resists: ENEMY 2. Of, relating to, or involving an
adversary 3. Having or involving
antagonistic parties or interests. *NOTE: [We see here the enmity between the
seed of Satan and the seed of the woman from Genesis; antagonistic parties with
different interests, one evil in nature; the other righteous.]
Angelic beings are in close relationship to God. They have
been or are continuously in the presence of the Lord and all his glory and
power. For one of these beings to be considered an adversary to the most High
(God) is a hint to us that Satan, though defeated, is a very intelligent
opponent ----at least to mankind. He must have a deceptive persuasiveness in
coercing others to follow him. He surely had some manner of distorted plan that
was convincing enough to compel one third of the heavenly host to rally behind
his assault on heaven and inspire them to oppose their creator. Let us not
think that it was for lack of intelligence or cunning that Satan was defeated
in his first attack. He quite simply underestimated his opponent - the great I
AM.
Lucifer, by reason of his beauty, his position, his
anointing and his appointment corrupted his own wisdom. Is it impossible to
rationalize that he also corrupted those under his authority? Isaiah tells us
that he “--weakened the nations--”or disillusioned the minds of the men of his
age. Revelation says that he, “--drew a third part of the ‘stars of heaven’, and
didst cast them to the earth--”
Satan was, by implication of Ezekiel 28, fashioned to be one
of the more powerful angelic beings. “--the
workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee the day thou
wast created. Thou art thee anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee
so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God: thou hast walked up and down in
the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day
that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee--” Ezekiel 28:13-15
The Hebrew word for ‘workmanship’ is mela’kah, (Strong’s Concordance

labor):--business + cattle +industrious, occupation, (+-pied), + officer, thing
