About the Author

Paul Clipp has been consulting to some of the best manufacturing organizations since 1980.  He learned his trade as a manufacturing manager while getting his Bachelors in Industrial Engineering from General Motors Institute and his MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Paul was an engineer and first line supervisor at General Motors.  Working for Colgate-Palmolive, he was a production manager and plant manager where he implemented the Manufacturing Excellence system moving his plant into the ranks of the most profitable in the company.

Paul is an experienced writer in areas of manufacturing improvement.  In Market Driven Manufacturing Paul and Joe Ellers describe a complete system to align your manufacturing efforts with the markets you serve.  For the National Management Association, Paul authored Challenging People to Succeed – a systematic approach to development, Total Quality Management, Implementing Process Improvement (co-authored with Joe Ellers) and Managing Change (co-authored with Bill Snow).  Each of these discussion courses includes a leader guide and a participant’s manual.

Paul is founder and director of The Southern Associates, a consulting group located in Clemson, SC.   Through TSA, Paul offers training, consulting and coaching in management and leadership.  Working with his associate partners, he helps businesses ranging from small to the biggest in the Fortune 500.

He is the father of two great kids – both students at Clemson University as this book is completed.
