About the Book
Poetry can inspire and uplift. It can excite and
motivate, evoke feelings of melancholy and reflection. St. Paul to the Philippians wrote: “Believe
all things, hope all things, endure many things, and hope to endure all
things. If there is anything of good
report or praiseworthy, seek after these things.” Sgt. Bailey’s poems invite the reader to reflect on and caress
each word. Feel his passion in the
pages that follow.

About the Author
Life experiences can help shape who we are. We can
become victims of bad situations and wallow in self-pity or we can be survivors
and become someone’s hero.
Sgt. Tarry Bailey is that hero.
Growing up in the 1970’s in Louisville, Kentucky was
uneventful in itself, but being the tenth child in his family made things a
little more interesting. He and his
brother were one of the two sets of twins his mother gave birth to. Life was
not easy but his mother did her best to see to it that her children had what
they needed.
His calling in life came early. He had seen many
pictures of his father in a Navy uniform and knew that is what he was meant to
do. Ballard High School gave him the opportunity to join in the Navy-Delayed
Entry Program and after graduation he was in the Navy. Sgt Bailey then Petty Officer 3rd Class
Bailey served aboard the USS Independence CV-62. The USS Independence was
called to the Gulf Region in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
He served honorably as a Radioman.
After attending college Sgt. Bailey felt that the
pull of patriotism was too strong and joined another branch of the military.
This time the Army had called. In December of 1999 after completing basic
training at Ft. Benning, GA. and school at Ft Gordon, GA, he was assigned to 1st
Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment 4th Brigade. While
assigned to the Gunfighters, he was deployed to Macedonia/Kosovo in support of
Operation Joint Guardian, Opcon to Nato, Task Force Falcon(3rd
Brigade). When his tour of duty with
the Gunfighters was completed, he then joined the 101st Airborne
Division (Air Assault) 2nd Battalion187th Infantry Regiment. While
assigned to the Rakkasan’s he deployed to CJOA Afghanistan in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sgt Tarry Bailey has earned several awards including
the Army Achievement Medal for coming to the aid of a fellow service member,
the Bronze Star Medal for his combat role in support on the War on Terrorism,
and numerous other commendations and medals.
