“What was that?” shouted a voice from the van.
“Someone’s behind the warehouse,” yelled another
voice.
Footsteps quickly surrounded Jeana Mae and Maribel
before they had a chance to move.
“Looky what I found,” said the man with the blond
ponytail. “Someone’s been spying on
us.”
He reached out and grabbed Jeana Mae by the
arm. “Come with me, missy, you’ve got
some explaining to do.”
The other man grabbed Maribel and marched her right
behind Jeana Mae.
“Hey Delbert,” called the man with the
ponytail. “I’ve found something interesting. Come out and take a look.”
Mr. Peterson came out of the warehouse and came face
to face with Jeana Mae. He just stood
and stared for a moment and then he began to shake his head. He wore that same smile that covered his
face from ear to ear. However, this
time, Jeana Mae did not find it amusing.
It began to look rather hideous.
“I’ve found me a couple of trespassers, have I?”
commented Delbert Peterson. “I don’t
take this too kindly. What business do
you have over here at this time of night?”
“I believe you have my parrot!” Jeana Mae snapped
boldly. “I want him back!”

About the Book
Jeana Mae was excited about the weekend. Her life, long dream to own a puppy was
finally coming true. Just a few more
days and she would be holding Sam tightly within her arms. The final arrangements had been made and her
daddy was to pick up the new member of the family on Saturday. However, it was not meant to be. A quick turn of events changed Jeana Mae’s
life forever. It was as if life had
lost its glitter. Nothing seemed
interesting anymore. Jeana Mae wasn’t
sure she would ever experience true happiness again when an amazon parrot
entered her life. It was a time to stop
feeling sorry for herself and start caring for others.
About the Author
Eugene Oscar grew up in rural Montana. He started raising birds at the age of
twelve, when his next door neighbor gave him a pair of Java Rice birds. Over the years, he has raised parakeets,
cockatiels, finches, conures, cockatoos, mynah birds, and amazon parrots. He became interested in writing at an early
age. As a teenager, he often wrote
short stories and poetry about the people around him. He majored in English at Eastern Montana College and taught high
school in rural Montana and North Dakota for several years. He currently lives and writes in Taylor,
Texas, with his wife, Dolores.
