It's Life, It's All Around You

Challenges

What challenges does life have in store?
Are there a dozen or maybe more,
To some it is hard to awaken and open their eyes,
They finally get up after a few tries,
For some they wish life were as simple as that,
They have an alarm - of which they turn off with a small pat,
For this person has a hard time getting around you see,
They can’t walk and therefore don’t have things as easy as you and me,
It takes them a while to get ready for work to look their best,
They guide their wheelchair down the hall to do the rest,
They reach the door and to a ramp they arrive,
This person somehow has a positive perspective and thinks it’s great to be alive,
They maneuver their wheelchair to the van they will drive,
Smoothly getting in and joking to themselves – no going over fifty-five,
After the drive to work they park their van and are greeted at their employer’s door,
By other people just like this person maybe they’ll play a game or two – maybe four,
These are no ordinary people but professional athletes through and through,
They have come to practice tennis – you would be truly impressed at what they can do,
They hit the balls back and forth to each other on the court,
Sure they are in wheelchairs but they don’t want you to be saddened and feel they need your support,
The message they are passing onto to this day and every other,
Don’t look to life as a set of challenges or even a bother,
Everyone is given on place on this earth with opportunities they must follow through,
And just because you feel a door close don’t ever let it stop you from all life as to offer you.
