The Changing Seasons of Life

David was inspired to write poetry while he was recovering from cancer in 2002. He originally learned to write various types of poems, including sonnets, in his high school English class.  The first poem, “The Race of Life,” was written shortly after his cancer treatment. The remaining poems deal with inspirational topics, love, personal relationships, and the environment.

David Thomas Searls, Jr. is a native of Houston, Texas. He is a real estate investor and has been involved in many areas of the real estate industry that include appraisal, management, and finance. He became interested in poetry at the Mercersburg Academy and was required to write a sonnet in one of his English classes. He graduated from college at the University of Houston.
