About the Author

Clarice Lawson Davis was born September 1,1933 in Milburn, West Virginia, The daughter of John and Nellie Parcell Lawson. After her Mother's death, she moved with her foster parents, The Rev. and Mrs. J.A. Rayl to Shelbyville, Indiana, where Rev, Rayl was the Pastor Of the Apostolic Tabernacle on Pike Street. Much of her Poetry reflects Those years. She writes about her surroundings, the people and places, she met Along the way, a description of growing up in Indiana, and speaks of it's Quiet life of serenity, putting it into prose and poetry, that will Forever be suspended in time.

She retuned to her native state of West Virginia in 1947, where she was graduated From High School, later she majored in Journalism at Marshall University. Her First book of Poetry entitled, “THE MEADOWS”, was published in 1974. Her poetry was selected to appear in AMERICA AT THE MILLENNIUM, also, THE BEST POEMS & POETS of2000, and entered into The Library Of Congress.

In Some Part Of Yesterday , is anthology of other poems she has written. Of the past and of the present of fond remembrance. As told in poetry. Ms. Davis is writing full time, and a member of The Academy of American Poets.

She was married to the late Vincent M. Davis, and the mother of three sons.

She lives and works in Huntington.
