is separated from her beloved shepherd.
King Solomon repeatedly seduces her to become one of the thousand women
in his royal harem. Solomon is
relentless in his attempts to convince the Shulamite to be his bride. He bestows upon her many lavish gifts and
flattering dialogue hoping to sway her.
The Shulamite is faced with the choice of yielding to temptation or
remaining faithful to the shepherd.
There is much historical
significance and practical relevance in this story. Though chosen of God as His divine

Dr.
Steve Cook, author of The Shulamite and the
Shepherd, has served in the pastorate of two local Baptist churches and has
authored several study booklets. Three
of his booklets are available in Russian. Dr. Cook is founder of Mission
