Daily Prayer
Lord, my friend and master,
Greeting me at dawn,
Give me your
protection,
And help me to be
strong.
Remember to include
me,
Whenever
work begins.
Help me to be useful,
So I may serve again.
Lord, my faithful teacher,
Guide me through each
day.
Show me my
temptations,
Before
I lose my way.
Teach me to be
humble,
And help me to have
faith.
Trust me to be
grateful,
When
I receive your grace.
Lord of all creation,
Hold me in your mind,
Fill each day with
happiness,
And teach me to be
wise.
Touch my heart with
laughter,
And keep me in the
light.
Shine your love upon
me,
So I may sleep
tonight.
Loneliness
Loneliness is an awful curse,
My Lord, I see it
everywhere.
It brings despair and
sometimes worse,
Because it's more
than some can bear.
Lonely people lose
hope and faith,
Because
they find no friends to trust.
They feel unloved, they need your grace,
My Lord, their
loneliness is rough.
Fill me Lord, with true compassion,
And teach me ways to
be a friend.
Help me be a good
companion,
So
lonely souls may smile again.
Fill me Lord, with
selfless service,
So I may be a helpful
soul.
Teach me Lord, when I
get nervous,
That
I, as well, must learn and grow.
Lord, you know that I get lonely,
Even though I know
you're there.
Some decisions I make
only,
Make me feel alone
and scared.
But still my life is
filled with friends,
And loneliness is far
away.
I pray, dear Lord,
you recommend,
That loneliness remains
that way.

About the Book
The
book One Hundred Simple Prayers represents my beliefs and experiences that have
evolved over many years. Addressed to God, these prayers are meant to be a
source of inspiration and hope, for those of us who seek to live a spiritual
life in a chaotic world. Each prayer has been written in simple, straight
forward rhyme; but they are also subtle in meaning. They attempt to provide a
fresh interpretation to ideas such as: despair, meditation, laughter and love.
Originally
self-published, One Hundred Simple Prayers has sold over one hundred copies. It
has been read by a wide variety of teenagers and adults, especially those
seeking hope in times of doubt and loneliness. Two poems called
"Children" and "Daily Prayer" have been published
world-wide by the Salesian Missions.
I
hope you enjoy my book, and find it a source of hope.
About the Author
As a poet and spiritual seeker, I have spent my adult life in search of God. This journey has required me to overcome both delusion and despair, as I painfully learned the lessons of humility and faith. After years of meditation and service I finally did experience God as love in the form of light energy. I have used this precious experience to write poetry and serve others.
Over the years, countless loving people have helped me along the way. Without them my life would have known only misery and despair. My gratitude to them is beyond what I can express in words.
I have a Master's degree in English from Western Illinois University, and I teach English at a Catholic Middle School in Illinois. Both have been a source of love, inspiration and faith for me.
