About the Book
Every
athlete relishes the opportunity to hit the grand slam in the bottom of the
ninth inning in game seven of the World Series, to catch that 'hail Mary' pass
for the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl, or to make that 15 foot jump shot
to score the winning basket with the title on the line. If the ball clears the fence, the pass caught
or the basket made, the player is elevated to hero or folklore status. If the athlete fails, all of the blame falls
on his/her shoulders. The consequence of
the loss however, no matter how dramatic, is typically – 'wait till next
year'. But what if the
loss meant no more baseball... forever.
In July 2000, Martians challenge the greatest players of our era to a
true World Series. Win just one game,
and the Martians peacefully return to their world. Lose all three games and baseball will never
be played on Earth again. Can the
Martians be beaten? Will Earth have the
passion, insight and ability to overcome the Martians physical strength,
preparation and trickery? The answer
lies in Home Field Advantage, a light hearted tale of two baseball worlds
colliding.
