About the Book

Mixed TIDINGS is a volume of poems for those who have a love for nature in its wonder and infinite variety and its widely different and fascinating moods.  While there is particular emphasis on the always captivating world of birds, a specialty of the poet, Michael Frederick Clark, the nature imagery in general is frequently used as a  framework to explore much broader themes, including social commentary and criticism on many levels of current interest.  Prominent in or underlying the content of many poems too will be found Mr. Clark’s pronounced commitment to the timeless values of the Catholic faith.  It is the poet’s sincere hope that the diversity of formats and “voices” experienced in these poems will appreciably add to the reader’s enjoyment.

About the Author

Michael Frederick Clark is a graduate of the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto (philosophy).  He is a parish and 3rd World charity worker, a pastoral visitor to nursing homes, and a field ornithologist.  Retirement from a High School English teaching career has enabled fiction, poetry and other types of writing to come more into the foreground of his life.  His fictional work, GOLDEN YEARS, which explores the richly fascinating though often troubled lives of the elderly, is also available from 1stBooks Library.  Mr. Clark is also an enthusiastic reader in many fields.  Happily married for over thirty-five years and a lifelong resident of Dundas, Ontario, he is the father of two fine adult sons.
