About the Book

The creation of my poetry called, Life’s Experiences and Challenges in Poetry, evolved, from my many encounters and journeys, traveling through life. This included put-downs, knock-downs, upliftings, encouragement’s, confrontations, problems, resolutions, time-outs, rat-races, spiritual awareness, love, relationships, trials and tribulations, accomplishments, but most of all, getting to know myself. A by-product of my poetry was discovering who I really was, where did I come from and where was I going. Following, I went inside myself and stepped outside of myself, discovering the many ME’s that existed within me, through me and outside of me. Finally, I wanted to know if there were others like me, through my poetry.

About the Author

I was born in the Upper Northeastern Region, the capital New York State.  I am the fourth and youngest child of my parents.  I was raised as a normal little girl, until my early teenage years, when I became a teenage mother.  Following, I became a teenage wife.  During this time, I returned to school for more education.  I obtained a GED and a Nursing Certificate. By my middle twenties, I was the head of household with the responsibility of three children.  I continual to work and go back to school, for formal education at intervals.  Medical problems developed and I was out of work.  Following, I returned to school for more education, at a community college.  I obtained an Associate in Applied Science.  At this time, is when I started to write poetry.  I figure, at this point, the least I could do was write down certain events that took place, in my life.  In May of 1988, I had written a poem called, ‘My God Help Me’.  The poem won an Award of Merit Certificate – Honorable Mention, from the World of Poetry, Golden Poetry Award.  A short time after, in Fall of 1990, I wrote a poem called, ‘From Mother’.

This poem won a Special Award – Free Publication, in the American Collegiate Poets Anthology, from the American Collegiate Poets.  Prior, I have volunteer to work with local youth, in my community to improve on their writing skills and other creative skills.  Also, I have done some open mic readings.  Presently, I have gather up all my poetry to be published.  My future goals are to expand my writing to other areas of literature.  I hope and prayer, my poetry will give encouragement, wisdom, knowledge, strength and company to those, who relate and know that they are not alone through these episodes, in life.  God Bless You All
