Passage of All

On the Edge

I found myself standing on the edge,

It’s bottom hidden by the dark drop down.

Unsure what to do, I looked back—

down the steep path that brought me here.

I felt the heartbreaking loneliness that

caused and kept me on the path.

I remembered the obstacles turned blessings.

I honored the friends that gave me water

along the way.

I marveled at the teachings of so many wise souls.

I stood in awe at how much the path had taught me.

Still, I found myself standing on the edge.

My heart was hurting, my mind and body were tired.

I could not see my enemy.

I stilled myself and thought.

I had heard the answers spoken many times.

I had searched for and found this riddle’s solution.

I believed.

Why was I standing on this edge?

I was beaten.

I sat, resigned, surrendered.

I closed my eyes in defeat, my mind

quiet—It was done.

Then, alone, in the stillness,

I met my spirit.

I knew and rose.

This edge, this edge of knowing, was visited

by many.

The foundation had been well laid.

I looked again at the path

It reversed direction just a few yards back.

I had a choice—Downhill or ........

Standing on the edge of knowing —

I jumped into the darkness, and watched as I was caught by the light.
