About the Book

This part of Ben''s story begins soon after his marriage to the love of his life Sarah Humphery.  It is about the joy and trials that take place as they start a new type of ministry and welcome their first child as part of the family.

Being a pastor is new to Ben, preaching to the same people week after week is much different than being an evangelist.

The Bishop soon calls him to the small church at Rocky Hill and then to act as Chaplain at the Wethersfield State Prison.  Ben felt at that time and for many years after word that his years there were the best work of his entire ministry to man and God.  Even greater than the Mission church he established in Yonkers, New York.

After many good years as Chaplain, his Bishop sent him to pastor the church at Vernon, because of the change of Wardens at the prison, and the deleting of many of the good programs Ben had set in place. The greater part of their life at Vernon will be continued in book four of this saga of the life of Rev. Ben Phelps and family.

About the Author

Lillian Pearson born in New Hampshire, in the family of Ed and Ruth Coverdale, came to Delaware as a young child.  Since her marriage has made her home on the small town of Harrington, De.

She began the Rev. Phelps Saga in 1980, due to the urging of her mother before her death, and to her daughter afterward.  She felt even stronger about it when she felt that the Lord gave her the name for the first book.

She had no idea it would be four books instead of one.  But friends who have bought the first two are encouraging her to finish the story, and not leave them with a cliff hanger.
