Riveting fear! That’s what struck the two young men hiding in the boathouse. They knew someone, or something, was right outside the door. They knew they would be helpless against an onslaught through that door. They huddled together shaking in terror to await the seemingly inevitable outcome, their death, surely in a most horrible fashion.

Excerpt 2

As I watched the gentle waves lap the shore, I noticed what seemed to be discernable images in the water. Curious at first, I casually glanced as each wave brought something new to see. Was I fantasying? I looked objectively, in dead earnest. Then the truth hit me – I was seeing images! The waves were communicating with me not only audibly, but visually! I got so excited I almost fell off the rocks I was perched on.

Silence permeated our little group for what seemed like an eternity. Then the misshapen man began to speak. Just a couple of years ago, he and two other men had undertaken a hunting expedition to try and get meat for the camp. They had their bows and bamboo arrows. Two days out of camp, they had come upon a sign in the underbrush indicating a large animal had recently passed through. They followed it. It led into the densest part of the jungle where virtually no light shone through the canopy.

As they approached the light source, they saw that it was indeed coming from a hole in the ceiling of the shaft. It was big enough for a man to fit through. My grandfather,” Jerry continued, “whose name by the way was Daniel, went through first. The second man followed closely. The room above was bathed in bright light. As their eyes got accustomed to this light, things began to come into focus. They were obviously in some type of void in the mountain. But this room or cavern looked man-made.
