I kept very still and clamped my mouth tightly shut. April stood over me, by my head and waited to see if anyone would come near us. We waited for what seemed like hours, but heard nothing and I prayed silently to God again for help.
“It looks like we’re all alone at last, Autumn, dear. This will indeed be the best night of my whole entire existence!” April cheered as she brought the knife to my throat and was about to bear down when a voice stopped her.
“Stop!” a familiar male voice commanded. Michael Porter stepped out of some bushes and glanced athis daughter and made sure she was still alive before he began to approach April.
“No! YOU stop, Mr. Porter. I’m the one in control, can’t you see? I have the knife to your precious daughter’s throat!” April boasted. “If you come one step closer, I’ll kill her right before your eyes.”
Michael Porter stopped and stood perfectly still. He looked over his left shoulder as his wife also emerged out of the bushes and shadows. He slowly shook his head and indicated to Lynn, not to come any further.
“What do we have here, the whole entire family? That’s good enough for me!” April said wickedly.
“Let her go, please!” Lynn begged April. “We’ve been like another family to you for years, April, why would you do this?”
“You are NOT my family! It’s too long a story and I don’t have time to get into it. Besides, I’ve already explained it to your wretched daughter.” April spat at them and her words hit like poison.
While they had been talking, another figure popped out of the woods, came at a running start and ran straight into April and they both fell on the ground away from where Autumn lay.
