a poem for aunt Joyce
when people were hungry, and although it was late; they could always come to your house and get a plate.
When people came to your neighborhood to do their drugs and beer, you told them you can’t do that here.
In a neighborhood like this, people would tell you
“you’re not my mother;”
But you would still say, “we need love for one another.”
you say when you have babies raising babies that’s not right; but it’s a funny thing about god, He can make everything alright.
in aunt Joyce’s neighborhood, people may sometimes feel low;
but with love for one another, it can always grow.

About the Book
As I went through life I see things in a way that seem simple to me but apparently not to other people. These poems are some of my views. I am not saying they are right. I am not saying they are wrong but seeing how one person driving on the expressway can hold up traffic for 2 hours at a time. I hope that if one of my poems can help change your life for the better, I know it is what God wants me to do. So as you read just remember that it’s a part of me for you.

BEING IN A ONE PARENT HOUSEHOLD, I SAW A MOTHER STRUGGLING HER WHOLE LIFE
AND TO HAVE NOTHING TO FALL BACK ON AT THE END OF HER LIFE BUT MORE STRUGGLES.
MY FIRST DEALING WITH DRUGS WAS TO HEAR THAT MY AUNTIE HAD OVERDOSED AT A
YOUNG AGE.
I LEARNED THAT ONE OF THE MOST DEADLY SINS IN LIFE IS JEALOUSLY.
PEOPLE CAN DISLIKE YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE, BUT GOD GIVES EVERYBODY THE
I JUST WANT TO GET THE POINT ACROSS THAT KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. IF NOT, HOW COULD A FEW SETTLERS COME TO
BEING A BLACK MAN, I KNOW THAT THE ONLY WAY THAT WE CAN BRING OUR RACE TOGETHER IS TO BRING BACK THE FAMILY UNIT. THE WAY I SEE IT, OUR RACE GOES TO CHURCH MORE THAN ANY OTHER RACE I CAN THINK OF; YET, WE CANNOT FOLLOW THE BOOK THAT WE GO TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY TO LEARN. SO, HOPEFULLY WITH THESE POEMS THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN ME, THEY WILL JUST MAKE YOU THINK.
