CIRCUMSTANCES
She appears not in the store aisles
But in the alley ways
Mumbling as she goes in search of elusive cans or bottles
That helps with her manifestation in a cruel world
Someone’s mother I’m sure
That time has turned its back on
She continues on her warily way
Scavenging for society’s throw away of the day
Nothing shameful to hide
Deep inside she has pride
The little old lady is determined to survive
WAITING FOR A CHANCE TO PLAY
I’ve been waiting all these years for a chance to play
To make my appearance in the N.B.A.
No fear of the excitement or the chance to compete
Because I’m versatile with the ball bouncing at my feet
Six feet five with a bag of tricks and a jump shot that won’t quit
Rebounding, defending and scoring
I can do it all
While patiently waiting for a chance to play
This game called N.B.A. basketball
ABOUT TIME
Agony once chased me
From one side of the earth to the Milky Way
Love woke me up one morning and slapped me on the face
Despair crept into my life and refused to leave
Saying it didn’t care
Happiness comes and goes
Like the north and south trade winds
Sadness has visited me on so many occasions
It’s not welcome anymore
Joy flirts with my inner soul
But never stays long enough to get acquainted
Reality is surreal
It looks and feels like and unfinished painting
Love, true love is about time
