ANGEL PLAY
What do the angels do for play
when God isn’t busy and gives an off day?
They hurry to the forest with trowel and pail
and plant new wildflowers along the forest trail.
This is so much fun for the angels, you see
for they are spreading wild beauty for you and me.
Nothing could please the Holy Ones more
than to play with the flowers on the forest floor.
Their gift is there for all people today
Let’s go to the forest and join the angels in play.
MY DITTY FOR MY KITTY
What a pity
That my ditty
For our kitty
Isn’t done
Just a thought about those fuzzballs
And your heart’s already won
I’d gladly be a sitter
Change the litter
Hide a titter
At the antics of my treasure
As he cocks his head to measure
Where to pounce upon our cocker
As his tail flicks toward the rocker
About to shatter all the decibels
That our ears can take today
We do love that tiny critter
As he flicks away the bitter
And the anger and the tiredness

About the Book

The poems and prayers in this volume grew from Glenn Catlin’s years as a church pastor when he often presented his sermons in poetic form. Reflecting an exuberant joy in living, this book delights in the language that can express amazement at creation’s wonders, a connectedness to others, and a happy gratitude
About the Author
Dr. Glenn Catlin is a retired minister and church camp executive. During his long ministry he was pastor to seven congregations of United Brethren, Evangelical United Brethren, Presbyterians, and American Baptists. For many years he was active in the administration of church camps.
His love of nature and extensive skills as a naturalist began early: during the Depression he helped his family by harvesting game and other excellent wild foods. Recently he turned his legendary storytelling abilities into a book, Grandpa Tollie’s Depression Farms.
