About the Book

About the Author

Larry Alan Jones was born in Evansville, Indiana but he grew up in Daviess County near Washington, Indiana. He graduated from Washington High School in 1961. He then attended Indiana University receiving a BS in Accounting (1965) and an MBA (1966). He also met his wife, Shirley, while at IU. Larry spent the next thirty-two years working for the Exxon Corporation where he advanced from a financial analyst to the executive ranks in Exxon''s financial management. Two sons, Ken and Travis, were added to the family along the way. Larry retired in 1998 and he and Shirley returned to Bloomington Indiana.

Writing poetry is a very recent and unexpected hobby. Except for the first five, all the other poems in this book were written in a little over eight months. Of those who have heard or read his poems, some have called Larry a "storyteller in rhyme." Others have said that he made poetry "understandable and enjoyable." The strength of his poetry is in the visual images and emotion conveyed by the words used and the lyrical nature of their delivery. The rhyming patterns are followed faithfully and the variety of subject matter covered is quite large. He truly has provided something for everyone.
