The objective of this book is to introduce the visually impaired golfer to the great game of golf, and Shaw does so, in a comfortable and informative manner. I have been involved in golf for 43 years and I’ve had a passion for every aspect of the game, the challenge of playing, teaching, the history, and the characters it embraces.
Throughout my entire career I’ve never had a more wonderful experience, a greater and more honorable challenge, nor been more proud to be involved with any project more so, than this one. During this endeavor I’ve never met a more dedicated athlete, a more focused student, or a more impassioned teacher of the game.
As an instructor for more than 30 years I’ve always tried to focus on communicating directly with the individual student, and his or her individual needs. Howard identifies how to communicate with the visually impaired student and tailors this information for this unique need. As a student of the game, an excellent player, and as a champion for the blind golfer’s pursuit of playing at a higher level, and having a better golf experience, Shaw gives us insight through a unique perspective, that of an experienced, blind golfer. The value of his observations and advice cannot be overstated.
It has been a passion of Howard Shaw to help others. And in the same way that he volunteers for experimental research, that can in no way benefit himself, but only others in the future; his trial and error efforts and determination were used, to present a guideline for the Blind Golfer to learn to play better golf, and have a better golf experience.
This book should be of equal value to the player as well as the coach. The insights that are revealed are invaluable to both. Using this information to enhance the teamwork of player and coach will be a certain edge in performance.
It has been a pleasure to work with Howard Shaw. I’ve enjoyed the company, the golf, and the learning experience that he ahs presented.
The pursuit of how to develop a better understanding of this wonderful game, of how to get the most out of each individual and to learn how coach and player can work together for a better golfing experience has been, and will continue to be a wonderful and rewarding experience.
The objective of this book is to introduce golfers of all walks of life to this great game. It offers a wonderful overview of a fabulous, rewarding activity and life style; it offers complete information on many aspects of the game, so as to give the new player comfort and confidence. It is my recommendation that coach and student sit down together to absorb the information offered in Howard’s book, and develop an understanding together of what they need to incorporate into their game to meet their own goals.
If you love this game as I do, you will thoroughly enjoy the fascinating insight on golf.
