About the Author

Franklin V. McQueen was born on June 17, 1953 in Bennettsville, S.C. One of fifteen Children of David and Elizabeth McQueen, he learned early the value of a good education and commitment to family and the community.

He graduated from Blenheim High School in Blenheim, SC in 1971, and furthered his education at DeVry Institute in Atlanta, GA. He received a degree in Journalism from Benedict College in Columbia, SC in 1979, while at Benedict. McQueen received numerous honors and awards for his poetry and writings. His poetry has been published in several newspapers and magazines and he has done recital on local television and has appeared in a number of plays.

McQueen’s entrepreneur efforts include, publisher of the BeTime News, Bennettsville, SC, owner of a picture framing business as well as a lawn care service. He has also worked with the Ujama Dance Club as well as other cultural organizations.

Additional, he has worked as an assistant with the National Conference of Black Mayors, the Midlands Human Resources Commission, Community Observer Newspaper, Fine Print News, Marlboro County, SC Department of Social Services and the Marlboro County Board of Education. He also served as a Correction Officer with the SC Department of Correction.

McQueen is a Mason and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He is a Godly and deeply spiritual man whose faith and perseverance has been the foundation that has inspired him to complete this novel.
