“I’m not sold on an avant-garde format, Mitch, but we need to be unconventional in the sense we’re not rehashing ad nauseam. We should bring new definition to journalism by reporting the facts only when we’re positive we have them.”

Jotting ideas down as they talked, both were surprised to form the working mission statement so quickly:

and international news concisely, precisely and without prejudice. Within
its purview, coverage shall include but not be limited to social and cultural
issues impacting humanity.

Minutes unfolded like hours as Mitch and Jason reported the details they were confident were authentic. The towers were on fire. Little information could be gathered about what was occurring inside of them. People were running like herds of cattle, down any street unencumbered by first responders. They watched their screens as they saw what appeared as birds flying from the upper floors to the ground. Mitch lowered his head and prayed for their souls when he realized they were human beings who had no other way to escape the ravages within the buildings than to jump from the floors where the fires raged.
