David was so excited that he was practically running across the valley and his heart pounded in his chest, he couldn’t wait to see what was in Cherokee Grotto, another clue, a piece of the treasure, he didn’t know but he was trying hard to find out.
The other’s jogged behind him and in no time they were at the base of another steep hill. David turned to look at James, who already knew what to do, and saw the look on Russell’s face.
“Russell you aren’t going to give me any trouble are you”, asked David.
“NO, I wasn’t saying anything”, said Russell defiantly.
“I know you didn’t say anything, it was the look on your face”, said David.
“I still didn’t say anything”, said Russell a little more quiet.
“Well it doesn’t look as bad, actually I don’t think we need the rope, it looks more like stairs then anything else”, said James.
Russell and the girls actually looked a little more hopeful, James was the natural athlete of the group so for him this was easy, but for everyone else it was a little more difficult.
“Wow, you’re right it does look like stair made out of rocks, I think James should go up first and David or Isaac should go up last”, said Josephine.
They started to go up the stony staircase and even though it was steep, it was much easier than climbing the bull’s head.
“I’m hungry”, said Russell.
“You just ate, can’t you wait until after we find out what’s in the cave”, said David in an annoyed tone.
Russell climbed on feeling resentful.
They finally reached the top and stared into the open black hole of the cave. They stared at it curiously and a little scared not knowing what was inside the cave. David reached for his backpack again to get out flashlights and was ready to enter first this time when they heard a low growling noise.
“What was that”, squeaked June.
“I didn’t hear anything”, lied Josephine.
David and his friends stood there frozen to their spots and heard another low growling noise.
David turned on his flashlight and shined it into the cave when they saw two great big yellow eyes staring back at them.
