“The story I have to tell is one of friendship, betrayal, love, lust and overcoming adversity. There are parts to my story that I am proud of but there are also parts that make me feel ashamed. It goes without saying that to be a man means you have to be brutally honest about what you’ve done with your life and how these actions have impacted on others. Let me begin by saying that everything that has happened to me, I probably deserved. I deserved to go to jail, I deserved to be betrayed and I deserved to have some of the people I thought I trusted turn against me. I’ll tell about a life that I never wanted but got nonetheless. My father always told me that everything you do and don’t do shapes your life. He also told me to have courage in my convictions and to grab opportunities with both hands. I had opportunities: some I grabbed and some I let slip away. However, the most important of opportunities I did indeed grab with both hands: to win the woman I loved and to be rid of my enemies.

About the Book

After discovering a talent for boxing, the novel’s protagonist, Michael Lewis, leaves home, against his father’s wishes, to forge a career in the army. From there, he tells the story of how he forged bonds of friendship with his fellow officers who would become his best friends. When he learns the father of one of those friends is a notorious London mob boss, it is already too late for Michael. He recounts the often harrowing, sometimes humorous tales of the struggle to free himself from the life he never wanted.
About the Author
Paul Michael was born in Fleet, Hampshire in 1973. He was educated at Portsmouth University. He has stayed close to his home-town most of his life. Paul commenced writing “Fighter, Soldier, Gangster, Killer” in January 2001 and completed the work in the summer of 2005. It has been a long journey and he has balanced writing his maiden novel with a full-time job of Business Manager. This is Paul Michael’s first foray into the world of literature and he hopes you enjoy reading “Fighter, Soldier, Gangster, Killer” as much as he enjoyed writing it!
