About the Author
Dr. Bobby Quarles is an osteopathic physician who practices family medicine and non-surgical sports medicine in Richmond, Virginia. He received his medical education at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, now Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and residency training in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
Dr. Quarles was the Medical Services Coordinator for World Wrestling Entertainment from 2000 to 2005.
He is the founder, leader, and keyboardist of “The English Channel” (www.thenglishchannel.com), a band which he and his singing wife Julie have dedicated to authentically recreating and performing the hits of the greatest British bands of the 1960s and early 1970s. They have two daughters, Jacey and Robyn.
Weight training has been his passion for the greater part of the last 20 years and moreso since 2003 when he began an in-depth study of the various training styles. From this work, Dr. Quarles has been able to design a most time efficient regimen of resistance and cardiovascular exercise applicable to almost anyone, of course, after prudent clearance by their personal physician.
Because of the ever worsening obesity epidemic haunting our nation, Dr. Quarles has seen the necessity of addressing this issue in an extremely frank and candid manner.
His story is also an inspirational one after having survived a cerebral hemorrhage due to an aneurysm rupture and subsequent surgical intervention back in 1997. He continues every day with his extremely busy schedule of family, work, writing, music, and intense physical training.
