About the Author

Anthony B. (Tony) Carroll, was born in Nassau, N. P., Bahamas.  An active individual Junkanoo participant  for the past 55 years.  He is a trail blazing Junkanoo artist who introduced all of the concepts, techniques, and innovative ideas during the last 50 years of this truly Bahamian cultural expression.  He was and is the pivotal creative force within the mix of the beautiful, captivating colour, the addictive, captivating rhythms of the goat skin drums, cow bells and whistles.  He is the King of the individual Junkanoo line, having held this position for fifteen consecutive years (1960-1974).

 

He is the winner of numerous bodybuilding titles, including Mr. New York, Mr. Eastern America, Mr. World, Mr. Universe and third place Mr. Olympus.

 

He appeared in "Salome" at the New York Metropolitan Opera House, co-starred with Eartha Kitt in the Broadway production of "Timbuktu" 1978 - 1980, "Richard the III" at the Hollywood Globe Theatre, "Moby Dick", "No place to be Somebody", "Dark of the Moon", "Over the Wall", "The Adventured of Conan the Barbarian", "Five on the Black Hand Side", "Othello", "Das Kline Mahogany", "We'd Rather Switch", and "Y. M. C. A.".

 

Co-starred on the T. V. shows, "Buck Rodgers in the Twenty First Century", "The New F. B. I.", "Alice", "Soap", "Kojak", and "Bloopers and Practical Jokes".

 

Co-starred in the movies, "Hercules in New York", with Arnold Schwartznegger, "Brand X", "The Projectionist", "Coloured Man", "Shamus", "The Next Man", "Buy and Cell", and "Masters of the Universe", with Dolf Lungren and Frank Langella.
