About the Book

This book is the story of two loves.  One set back in the 1800’s and running through the mid 1950’s; the other is a modern day story beginning in 1955 and lasting through the mid 1980’s.

Quay Jasper relates the first story to us.  It is the memories of an old man who is living out the last few years of a very interesting and heroic life. He tells how he met the beautiful Indian maiden, Bluebasket. He tells of his experiences of growing up in the wilds of frontier Montana. He shares his friendship with the Sundance Kid and Butch Cassidy. He tells  how he became a United States Marshall and a United States Senator. Although he led a full life, it was filled with grief and sorrow.

The second story is about Linda, Quay Jasper’s great granddaughter; and her husband, Juan Mc Gerald.  The story tells how they met and about their whirlwind courtship. Ending tragically after a long and happy marriage of many years.

The two stories are beautifully intertwined during the adventures of these two generations.  You will laugh when they laugh, and cry at the sad moments.  A true heart-warming story of two loves that will touch your heart.

About the Author

Who is Jerry Jasper?  Well that’s me - and I’m not sure I know who I am!  I was born Gerald Juan Jasper in the small east Texas town of San Augustine.  I grew up riding  broomstick horses pretending to be Roy Rodgers or Gene Autry.  My three brothers and I shared our days playing cowboys and Indians with our one set of pistols, and a homemade bow and arrow.  Cowboys have always been my heroes, and that is why I was persuaded to write this book.  I still love to watch John Wayne movies; and he will always be my American hero.

In 1959 I moved to the “big city” of Dallas, Texas, where I’ve spend most of my life.  Moving to Oklahoma for a decade and eventually came back home to Texas.  I’ve earned my living as a sales manager in the food service industry for a large southeastern manufacturing company for the past 26 years.

When I started the book I had no idea that it would be published. I just wanted share a story that was in my heart.  Guess I really just wanted to see if I could write.  It was for my own pleasure – and took me somewhat over a year to complete.

My life has been a long, happy one with many blessings.  I live by my philosophy that...

“You’re never too old to have a happy childhood!!”
